How much is 1 USDT in Chinese yuan?

USDT is a stablecoin pegged 1:1 to the US dollar, so 1 USDT is worth about one dollar, and its yuan value follows the USD/CNY exchange rate.

In late September 2026 USD/CNY was about 6.71, so 1 USDT was about 6.71 yuan (Yahoo Finance USDT/CNY). A year earlier the rate was above 7.1, which is why people say “USDT keeps getting cheaper”; really, the yuan has strengthened.

Is USDT the same as USD? Why does its price move?

• Against the dollar: USDT usually trades between $0.998 and $1.002, with larger gaps only in extreme markets.
• Against the yuan: USDT's yuan price ≈ USD/CNY × (1 ± P2P premium); when the exchange rate moves, so does USDT.
• So why is the USDT price falling? Either the yuan is strengthening or more people want to sell USDT than buy it on P2P.

A falling USDT rate can mean a stronger yuan or weak sentiment with people cashing out, or both.

What does the USDT P2P premium mean?

P2P (peer-to-peer) prices on exchanges differ from the official exchange rate. When they are higher it's a premium, when lower a discount.

The premium is a mood gauge, not a trade signal. The practical point for beginners: compare several merchants when buying USDT on P2P; 1% is real money on larger amounts.

Is USDT legal in China?

Under Circular No. 42 issued in February 2026 (People's Bank of China), crypto-related business, including stablecoins such as USDT, is illegal financial activity in mainland China, and overseas platforms may not serve mainland users. Individuals bear their own losses and get no legal protection.

• Personal holding: not defined as a crime, but your rights aren't protected.
• Buying and selling USDT for profit: doing it frequently as a business can be treated as illegal business operation.
• Receiving or swapping money for others: if the money comes from fraud or gambling, you may face charges for assisting crime or concealing criminal proceeds.

What if you receive dirty money when selling USDT?

“Dirty money” means the buyer paid you with proceeds of fraud or other crime. Typically your bank card gets frozen by police in another city and you're asked to give a statement.

1. Don't panic, run or delete anything. Cooperating is what matters most.
2. Gather evidence: the P2P order number, the buyer's verified name on the platform, chats, bank records and the USDT transfer record.
3. Explain truthfully that it was a normal sale and you didn't know where the money came from.
4. The tainted amount may have to be returned. Follow the investigators' and your lawyer's advice.
5. For large sums or complex cases, hire a local lawyer.
